"How it was Done - Very Tired Young Driver Image" Corel

Very Tired Young Driver

Today I have reached the milestone of 1,330 blog posts! Thank you for sharing with your friends!

Unsplash sent me their most recent group of Free Hi-Res photographs today. I selected the photograph of a "Very Tired Young Driver." I immediately was drawn to this image, the individual, his hat and shirt, and the amount of light in the entire image.

I opened it in Corel PhotoPaint. Here I applied the Threshold tool for some more white space. I had in mind a Texture Blended image, so I searched for a texture that I already had, not used yet. I located this Concrete Texture. I opened it and copied to the clipboard. I pasted it as a new layer and used the Property Multiply for transparency.

Next I used the Tone Curve to lighten the colors with some depth. I added my signature and saved that iteration. I then opened the image in Corel PSP Pro X3 and applied the Smart Photo Fix, adjusting the Shadows. I added some Vibrancy with the Saturation tool, this brightened up the colors a bit more.

After all these steps I resized the image for display, still in PSP Pro X3, then saved that iteration with my other recent Textured Portraits.

Custom Cars are a GAS - Grunge and Polish

Hard work, a great classic car and a fabulous paint job polished up to a high gloss. You are ready for the Woodward Dream Cruise. All nature of cars will be cruising Woodward Avenue and the image for today names only a few brands.

On WXYZ.com you can share your memories of previous Dream Cruises with photographs of your memories. And they even have an Events listing for you to plan your days at this years Cruise.

I used PhotoPaint for the piece with another Grunge sandy background. I took the photograph of the car into Paint.NET and used the Effects> Artistic> Ink Sketch with no color for the overlaid car image. I applied the object properties Color Burn for the browns of the ink sketch. I then thought awhile about some of the cars I had seen at previous Cruises and added their names to the piece. I know I have probably not covered them all, but many of these names are going away in the current Big Three crunch.

I used a variety of fonts, some Grunge others a bit more polished, but you'll get the idea from the image itself.

Annual Woodward Dream Cruise - Again with the Grunge

This August is the month for the Annual Woodward Dream Cruise of all manner of automobiles down Woodward Ave in Detroit Metro and surrounds. It is usually the third Saturday of the month, I am not certain of the dates this year. It will be bitter sweet for the city of Pontiac, Michigan as this article shows from The Freep.

Detroit Metro has been hit hard with the recession as many of the car companies have been through changes that have been short of a complete shock to the area. But people love their cars and will show them off as the Big Three struggle away against all odds.

I used PhotoPaint for this image along with CorelDRAW and some cdr format clip art cars for the piece (actually from CorelDRAW Suite 8 clip art.) The background is a sandy texture overlaid with a Photograph from a previous Dream Cruise Custom Car. I used object properties of Color Burn on the objects I overlaid on the image. I used the Thredgeholder to get the hand drawn look for the photograph.

Each year my Son and my Brother go to the Dream Cruise and take many photographs and I have many photos from differing years shows. So I go vicariously and get to use the photos if I want to, thanks to my Son.

A Change of Pace - Collage

This image is a change of pace from my guitar motif. I made this collage in PhotoPaint. I used a photograph of Chicago's skyline taken from a moving vehicle.

I used PhotoPaint's spray brush of highway signs. And I added some Dover Publication's clipart. And to frame it I used some Dover clip art and a vector frame found during my search I did the other night.

It is an improbable setting with ships floating on the horizon. I entitled it: "One If by Land". At best circumstance move Slowly and follow the signs.

An Overcast Day Near Cook's Inlet

An overcast day driving toward Seward. Surrounded by mountains and waters it was beautiful though cloudy.

This is a heavily cropped photograph going south from Anchorage. I was the only one to see the tailfin's of a Beluga whale. No one else could verify it for me! I stand alone.

I put together another song yesterday. I used a chord progression I had used before but played it to a drum backbeat. A little up tempo backbeat with a slower chord strumming to it. I found an old song that I had not liked the chords and melody to and took the lyrics and fit them to the different progression. The melody is very Rock-like. Simple yet strong.

I started a new round of songs for a CD this one I've named "Fifth Time Around." As I have created enough music for at least four CDs. Now a Fifth one is growing.

Chord progressions and leads are coming fairly well but new lyrics and melodies are harder. Whe I was younger I was pretty prolific with lyrics and poetry. As a more mature person you'd expect I would have more to write about, but it doesn't always come out like it used to.

Inspiration is the best but most of it is persperation instead!

I am also limited to open chords and I avoid Barre chords, I have small hands and i'm playing the 12-string and it is just plain harder to barre 12 strings cleanly.

So I relish in learning new open chords like C2 and Asus2, G6 and others. Then to make them into a nice progression is a challenge I enjoy. Bridges are elusive as well. They can be so different, yet have to keep to the songs overall development, as to pose some difficulites.
