"Let's Talk About Music with 'Tom Baillies' as Guest" Picasa - Corel - Plus

Tom Baillies Playing his Dobro

I watched the YouTube version of "Let's Talk About Music with 'Tom Baillies' as Guest" Tom was playing his Dobro guitar and played some slide style as well as sang. It's his guitar of choice for song writing.

I opened Picasa 3.9 and did a screen capture. From there I cropped the image manually in Picasa. I applied the Warmify feature for color.

I used the HDR feature for effect, and then applied the Lomo tool. I then looked at Cross Processing but did not like that so I reversed it to the Lomo image. I then selected the Museum Matte frame and altered the matte color to a warmer color.

I saved the file and opened with Corel PhotoPaint and added my signature saving again.

"Flower Boy Steampunk" Digital Collage - Corel PhotoPaint - Filter Forge - Corel PSP Pro X3

"Flower Boy Steampunk"

I began this image with a texture of peeled paint and superimposed a photograph of Guitars. I was using Picasa 3 to browse my folders and found both of these photographs. I opened with Corel PhotoPaint and I applied the Guitars overlaying them on the white peeled paint.

I went back to Picasa and browsed my Dover Publications sampler folder for some Steampunk like images. I selected the Locomotive and Car, placing them end to end. I added the Boy standing on the fuel bin of the Locomotive and placed a Flower graphic in his raised hand. I found the Robed Lady and added her. Then I added the Man and Woman. I added the Watch in two places. Finding a pre-made Steampunk image I cut out the Smoke for the Locomotive. I doubled it and flipped the gears image and placed them together.

I had used Filter Forge's Photo Effects Vibrance on the background and added a Grunge frame to it, prior to placing the other pieces. I merged all the pieces into the one image.

I saved the large file and opened with PSP Pro X3 to add another classic frame. I also resized the image after saving the large file, having already added my signature.

Collection of Electric Guitars

I recently visited Pontiac Music and Sound in Waterford, Michigan with my son and we took some Photographs. I used my High Contrast workflow on the photographs.

I opened them in Corel's PhotoPaint and applied the Local Equalization tool. Then I used the Tone Curve to add color depth to each image. I upped the saturation for a boost to the colors as well.

It is a simple workflow that results in some deeply colored and textured images with plenty of contrast.

Perry Foster - Bluesman

Second to the last post of portraits from the Blue Front Blues Room. Photograph credit goes to John Anderson. I have been enjoying this series and I hope you are as well.

Here is Perry Foster performing with his guitar and singing. I used Paint.NET to create the line work using it's Artistic> Sketch filter, I saved it as a separate file. I opened both in PhotoPaint altered the saturation of the original by about 25. I added the line work as an object and changed it's properties to Multiply, dropped it to the background, changed the Gamma to lighten up the dark areas. I saved the file after I added the frame and my copyright, then opened it in Painter 8 to add the texture to it. Each step adding a little something to the finished piece.

I have added my blog to FeedBurner to make it easier to subscribe to for many. I checked my listing in Google's blogsearch and I come up about 4th or 5th in the listings for 'Digital Visual Arts'. Not bad.

I am increasing the blogs I follow, adding art blogs, but I am keeping the number down to keep my time under control. I am very specific as to who I want to follow as well as what my interests are, Art and Music.

I have improved my blog heading. I also added a picture at the end of the my blog which I may change infrequently. It is an image that began as a photograph of Onions grown in our garden on the kitchen counter with a red towel. I altered that image so the colors were predominant. I added images of guitars and a couple of guitar players to make it more of a digital montage/collage.
