I have mentioned this song in my last post, the Wedding Song "Dream Has Come True," for our Son and new Daughter in law. It was played and presented at their wedding reception. My wife and I were surprised by the enthusiastic applause we received from all there.

Tear The Curtain Down

My newest song, it is 8+ minutes long, reminiscent of Neil Young. Just Vocals and my 12-String, recorded in my Studio/Office Live. Not much in the way of mixing. Kept it simple.

"Wait Until Morning" is a love song. Two parties are trying to keep a relationship together, but are having difficulties. "You show me your answers, I'll show you mine," shows that they are discussing attitudes and thoughts about being together. The first party (the male singing,) wants to stay until morning. Hoping to express his commitment. But is he really committed to this relationship?

We don't really get to hear the other side of the situation, but, "if you don't mind," shows reluctance on her part to let him stay. The end of the matter is they don't stay together and the relationship is a bust. That's for another tune I suppose. Click on the link above for a Full Preview for your consideration. "Blue Woman in the Woods" Corel

Blue Woman in the Woods

Instead of doing some Digital Painting, I wanted to do some Photography Texture Blending. I found a Womans Portrait from Morguefile, and a Texture from Stockvaults Friday Freebies. I began by opening the Woman first in Corel PSP Pro X3 and adjusted the Threshold to darken it. I then opened the Blue Texture file and layered it over the Woman. I sized it to fit the portrait. I then added to the image by adjusting the layer opacity properties. I upped the Saturation Vibrancy for the Blue Texture to stand out. I saved that file as a TIFF file format.

I opened the Woman in Corel PhotoPaint and used a differing form of the Threshold to allow some flesh-tones to show, along with the white space. I opened the previously Textured file and layered the two, using the property Multiply for transparency. I added my signature as a layer and merged them all.

I ended up with a multi-textured piece, with wood bark and the Blue, along with some Flesh-tones on her face. In the end I blended four or five layers to create this piece. "Blue Woman in the Woods." I saved that file iteration. I resampled for display and saved a final for post image.

Digital Watercolor Banjo Player

Today I am  Excited, I just SOLD my first download on CDBaby of "Something Amazing." It is highly satisfying to have sold a copy. I would like to thank the purchaser though Anonymous if you read this you know who you are.

Today's image is a Digital Watercolor of a Banjo Player against Texture Blended wood and concrete background. I started in Corel Painter Photo Essentials 4 with the Watercolor Sketch setting and a Stiff Brush. I used the soft cloner brush to add back some of the detail of the face, hands, and embroidery on the jacket. I saved the large file as a TIFF file.

This I opened in Corel PSP Pro X3 and used the Smart Photo Fix tool for brightness. I then added Saturation Vibrancy to punch up the colors. The Wood wall looked good but I wanted some more texture, so I selected a StockVault Freebie Concrete one. I added it as a layer and used the property Multiply on that layer for transparency. I saved that file as a PNG file.

Being that it seemed unfinished I opened it in Corel PhotoPaint and using Filter Forge Frames I added a Film Frame to the piece. I also saved that, then resampled to a display size and saved as a JPG for the blog.

This is Number One in a series of tunes. This first tune talks about an Attitude Problem, a person with no natural affection, self-centered, and unconcerned about others. Thus a "Blind Guide."

"Blind Guide," is about the type of person we have all met. The one who wants to win and be on top all the time. It is a Classical Rock song with a great beat. Most of us have been victims of such an individual, not a pleasant experience. Reality is not in his or her outlook, only to win every time. A Bad Attitude to have. Don't follow him, you will only fall into a pit.

The next tune sounds a warning. Watch for the coming single after "Blind Guide!"

I have been working on the song and artwork for it recently. Today I uploaded to CDBaby.com and now I am waiting for the email to let me know it is all ready to post. "Blind Guide," is the title. It is the first song in a group of themed tunes, I will be releasing this month.

"Two Women Dual Textured with Map" Corel

Two Women Dual Textured with Map

Another image with layering of a Public Domain Map, showing Michigan and surrounding areas. The Dual Textures are the Map and a Stone Texture from StockVault. (The brownish tint to the Map is the Stone Texture.)

I began with the Women ( from Morguefile) in Corel PSP Pro X3, I used the Threshold tool for white and black space. I left enough detail to satisfy me for their faces and hair. I next copied and layered the Map with a slight change with Curves for the depth of colors.

I selected another Stone Texture and adjusted the darkness of the Stone to a light color before applying the property Burn (or was it Dodge?) one or the other. This gave the brownish tint to the Map.

I added my signature and merged all layers, saving the large iteration. I viewed the full image and found that the Map made a nice border for the sides but too much white on the bottom. I opened in Corel PhotoPaint and added a black border to the entire image. Here I also resampled the image for display with compression set at 75 and smoothing at 33, with the JPG Optimized. I saved that and then posted to "gatzkART!".
