"Beard and Cowboy Hat" Corel Painter

Beard and Cowboy Hat

I chose this photograph of a Mans Portrait with a "Beard and Cowboy Hat." I thought that it would be a challenge to paint digitally. It was a color photograph I opened it in Corel PSP Pro X3 and converted it to grayscale.

Saving that I opened in Corel Painter Photo Essentials 4 and used the Watercolor Sketch with a Dry Brush. I saved that iteration and opened in Corel Painter 11.

I used Digital Watercolor Brushes, Chalk, Crayon, Gouache as well. Using my Wacom tablet, I painted it selecting flesh toned colors and browns for the hat and shirt with black and purple for the leather jacket.

"The Couple" Corel Painter

The Couple

I created today's image with the following:
  • Corel Painter Photo Essentials 4
  • Corel Painter 11
  • Corel PSP Pro X3
The portrait was from Morguefile. I applied the Watercolor Sketch in Essentials 4, digitally painted in Painter 11 and upped the Saturation Vibrancy by 18 in PSP Pro X3.

I added my signature and resized for display here.

The new song I am working on the first recording draft was over 8 minutes long! It also is not as uptempo as I want so it is time to revise! Fun times ahead.

"Hoodie Two" Corel Painter

Hoodie Two

I am really busy lately. I did this late last night. Taking the basic steps, I did previously, I Digitally Painted this image. I used similar workflow as the last post I did. Corel Painter 11 is the main program I used, and for resizing for display Corel PSP Pro X3.

I refer you to the previous post of "Hoodie," Mans Portrait, for details. My appologies for such a short post! But I wanted to get this out today. {Click on HOME for the last post prior to this one.}

I have been working on a New Song and doing guitar and writing exercises. Singer-Songwriter, and Digital Artist. Sometimes something suffers while others are completed. Creativity is hard work!

"Hoodie" Corel Painter

Hoodie

A short post for this evening. I selected another Homeless Man Portrait and digitally painted it. I opened in Corel Painter Photo Essentials 4 using the Watercolor Sketch setting with a Dry Brush.

I saved the large grayscale image and opened in Corel Painter 11. There I painted using Digital Watercolor and Gouache brushes. I saved it as a TIFF file. I reopened in Corel PSP Pro X3, adjusting the Saturation Vibrancy by 18 for slightly brighter colors.

I also added my signature as a layer. I merged all layers and saved the file again with the same name and type. I then resized for display for this post, with a new name and as a JPG file format.

I was watching a HOA on Google+ at the same time I was going back and forth painting tonight. +Rebecca Perl was playing and singing songs and announcing her new album "Point of No Return." I did a capture of her holding her new CD up to the camera and posted that on G+ as well.

Rebecca Perl

Had a great time switching between tasks - painting and listening - watching and listening. Good music, it was a fun challenge. But, I wanted to post to the blog tonight as it has been a few days since my last one. So here it is! 1,300 plus posts.

"Bandana Man Portrait" Corel Painter

Bandana Man Portrait

I visited the Morguefile site and was able to find a few Portraits to work on. I chose this "Bandana Man Portrait," to digitally paint. I used Digital Watercolors, Gouache, and Chalk brushes in Corel Painter 11.

To begin, I used Corel Painter Photo Essentials 4 Watercolor Sketch setting for the base painting in grayscale. I saved the file and opened it in Corel PSP Pro X3 and resized it to a larger file. It is this file I digitally painted in Corel Painter 11.

After I had painted the large file I saved it and opened in PSP Pro X3 to use the Saturation Vibrancy. I set it at only 18 as the image was fairly colorful already. I saved the large file then resized it for display here in the post.

I am liking these Homeless Person's Portraits as subject matter, and I like the reminder that many of us are a short monetary way from the same situation. We, the fortunate, are in better situations than these particular individuals. Something to be thankful for.

This is the 1,300th published post to "gatzkART!" Many images to view, be my guest, Please!
