"Art Nouveau - Gypsy Muse Young Lady" Mayang's Textures - Paint.NET - Corel

Art Nouveau  - Gypsy Muse Young Lady

I was able to get an image of a "Gypsy Muse Young Lady," and decided to use this image as Digital Art.

I opened from Picasa 3.9 with Paint.NET and applied the Oil Paint effect on the image. Setting the paint brush size up and the coarseness setting up for texture in the strokes.

I went to my external hard drive folder for Mayang's Textures of an Art Nouveau floral. I rotated it and fit to size to the Young Lady image. I used Corel PhotoPaint to do this. I also used the property Multiply to add transparency. I adjusted the Opacity to let the Young Lady show through. This added much with a Art Nouveau texture.

I used Filter Forge Photo Effects Vibrance to add punch to the colors and applied the Tone Curve for depth. I added my signature in white and resampled to display size.

"Gypsy Woman Digital Collage and Linux Experiment" Corel - Plus

Gypsy Woman Digital Collage

Recently we received a Dell Latitude X300 throwaway laptop from the garbage. It's screen is broken with an "S" sized crack that blacks out part of the screen.

It had a password protected Bios and Windows 2000, also password protected. I was able to go to Linux as a way to break into the OS.

I made an Ubuntu boot disk, LinuxMint boot disk and a PuppyLinux boot disk and all failed with a PAE kernel failure. With some consultation with a friend I got SnowLinux Non-PAE E17 boot disk made and it booted and took a few hours but I finally made the laptop HDD bootable.

I also had been given a VGA flat screen monitor, that I plugged in and it worked so I could see all the screen. The only drawback is that the battery does not work and the AC adapter is from my wife's laptop, which has no battery! So I have to share that adapter!

I am still learning SnowLinux and it's capabilities. But It did take me away from creating for my blog.

Today I have time to create. I took two ladies faces, one a free Vintage Gypsy, and another a Steampunk image from Dover Publications Sampler. I merged both as the central focal point in Corel PhotoPaint. I added two dressed women, a flapper and well-dressed lady.

Also from Dover Clip Art I used a mandolin, matching the Gypsy aspect. And a butterfly and a corner Victorian sample to the upper corners.

In PhotoPaint I made it into a quadtone and then converted to an RGB image. I took KPT's Collection Pyramid Paint and painted the image with a blue tint.

Saving this image I opened it in Corel PSP Pro X3 to add the cloud and sky frame. I added my signature to the image using the Visible Watermark and a PNG file.

I saved the large iteration and resampled for display.

So after my adventures with Linux (which I am still learning) I had time to create this double faced woman's portrait for your enjoyment.

"Vintage Gypsy Woman Muse" Corel Painter 11 - Plus

Vintage Gypsy Woman Muse

I picked an image from the Free Vintage Clip Art folks today. It is a "Gypsy Muse," vintage piece. I opened from my Picasa 3.9 folders with Corel PSP Pro X3 and used the Smart Photo Fix on it punching up the color and sharpening the image. I also used the Skin Softening on it for the skin tones.

I applied the Saturation Vibrancy on it and saved it as a display size image. I reopened in Corel Painter 11 and I painted it with differing clone brushes, Soft Clone and Thick Camel brushes. I used a Watercolor brush for the background surrounding the woman.

I used the Soft Cloner for the stringed instrument she is holding so the details would show clearly. I added some line in the background to halo the woman.

I saved that iteration and opened with Corel PhotoPaint. I used Filter Forge's Photo Effects Vibrance. Then I added a film frame with Filter Forge's Frames. I also placed my signature in black and saved that iteration.

Music wise I tuned my 12-String Seagull to standard tuning and have been practicing using some chord progressions I got online that I printed out.

A minor, G major, D minor, and A major chord progressions with differing structures. They were divided between VERSE and CHORUS lines of progression.

I did some recording of my practicing and listened back to them using Audacity and improvising leads. I used a Archtop Jazz Guitar for the rhythm and different leads for some flavor. I found that switching from minor chords to major chords posed some difficulty in my improvisations. All in all I am feeling good to be practicing again.

Cropped Egyptian Beauty - CorelTRACE - CorelDRAW - Painter - PhotoPaint

I began this exercise with a photograph of an Egyptian beauty. I used the image in CorelTRACE and made it a vector graphic, which much simplified the colors and details. I opened it in CorelDRAW and copied it to the clipboard. This I pasted into PhotoPaint.

I resized the image in PhotoPaint and then saving it as a jpg, I opened it in Painter. There I used the Digital Watercolors to create a muck up of the woman's face. I added an Acrylic brush Auto clone and then used the soft cloner to add back the detail of her mouth and eyes and nose.

I used the Effects> Texture> Plastic> with a light peach color on the image

I applied optiVerve Labs Virtual Photographer using the settings of Slide #2, 1600 ASA, Warm, Effect> Wash> to adjust the piece.

Still in PhotoPaint I cropped the resulting image and used a Photography frame from Filter Forge.

Digital Study of a Gypsy Woman

I've done a digital Study of a Gypsy Woman using Corel's PhotoPaint and KPT's Collection. Something different for a change to the type of artwork I've displayed here previously.

I used various fills for this image, as is evident. I tried to keep it simple yet attractive. It is not a vector graphic but a bitmapped based image.

I like the vulnerability of the pose, holding up the long hair. It speaks of a openness that she has.

As far as music goes I did a Blues tune called "Broadband Blues". It's about the cost of having broadband connections to the internet when all one can afford is dialup. You miss out on things like training videos, music streaming, fast file downloads, it precludes any large downloads at all. I used a simple E7 A7 Bm7 chord structure, a good blues riff. I played around with the lead riff quite a bit. It turned out pretty good, in my humble opinion.

With that song I started a new group of songs for another 15 songs or so for a Audio CD. I completed "Fifth Time Around" with 15 songs, about an hour of music playing time. Fits easily on a single CD.

I am going to call the next one "One Tough Baby" and dedicate it to my wife who is one tough lady. A Cancer survivor, who has avascular necrois in both hips and lives with pain each day. She has allergic responses to most pain medications so she just grins and bears it. She gives of herself to a fault, and is aways there for me. What a gal! We hope she can have hip replacement surgery some time in the future, but for now the doctors are saying to wait.

So, I have a song title and a subject all I need is the chords, lyrics and melody for it. A nice challenge.
