"Harp and Three Women" Corel Painter 11 - Corel PSP Pro X3 - Corel PhotoPaint

Harp and Three Women

I browsed to this colorful piece in Picasa 3.9 in my Dover Publications folder. I opened with Corel PhotoPaint and resized to 150 dpi. Using Filter Forge's Photo Effects I boosted the colors with the Vibrancy tool. Saving this image I opened with Corel Painter 11.

There I did a Quick Clone and using selected brushes, such as the Camel Oil, Chalk and other brushes I repainted the image. I used the Apply Surface Texture on it using Luminance. This gave me a slight impasto appearance. I used the wand tool to select the white border that I did not paint and then using the Fill tool I filled with black.

I saved that iteration and reopened with Corel PSP Pro X3 to add a 25 pixel black border and then the ornate Picture Frame. Saving that I reopened in PhotoPaint, added my signature in white and resampled for display.

"Favorite Book" Corel Painter 11 - PhotoPaint

Favorite Book

Today I felt like digital painting so I opened a photograph of my Grandson and his "Favorite Book," in Corel Painter 11. I quick cloned it with a white background and began painting in Gouache. I painted his head, face and body with it and then switched to a large Chalk. I used texture with the Chalk brush for the background.

I also used the Soft Cloner for some detail in his face. Then I used a Digital Watercolor brush and painted in some flesh tones, and a touch of color in the background. I selected a thin Pastel chalk brush and added the lines for definition.

I adjusted the texture with Image Luminance, and upped the saturation to boost the colors. I also decreased the value for some depth. I cropped the image to show only him and his book. Then saved the large file.

I opened it in PhotoPaint and added my signature, saved again then resampled for display here, saving that iteration. I opened the file in Picasa 3 and viewed the full screen image. I like the image so I am sharing it for your enjoyment.

Beach Scene - Holland, Michigan - Painter 11 - Paint.NET

This project started as a photograph of the beach at Holland State Park in Holland, Michigan. I found it browsing in Picasa 3. I did some prep work on it using Paint.NET applying a filter that simplified the photograph into a painterly appearance.

I then took that saved file and opened with Painter 11, did a quick clone and selected the Oil brush. I was hoping for an impasto look and feel and this is what I got. I also used the Soft cloner and the straight clone to bring back some of the altered detail.

I grabbed the Distortion brush Confusion and diffused the sky. I left the rest of the image alone. Back in PhotoPaint I added a Painting frame in Filter Forge.

Redhead Portrait - Painter 11 - PhotoPaint

Another portrait from WetCanvas forums, an intriguing redhead. I opened it in Painter 11 and did another quick clone. I began with the Camel Oil cloner and did the hair first, trying to capture the redhair and it's waviness along with it's straightness.

I used the Oil Brush for the face, hand, arm and neck. I added a little bit more detail of the eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth using the Soft cloner. For the rest of the painting of the woman I used the Fine Gouche cloner.

I switched to a new layer for the background, selected a sky blue color and a coral green along with a pink selection with the pick up tool, using an Oil brush. I used Distortion brushes to alter the background. The Bulge, Hurricane, and Distorto
brushes.

I saved this file as a jpg for the internet. In PhotoPaint, I added a 10 pixel sky blue border adding to this a blue green border. I selected that with the wand and applied the Texture> Plastic> effect to it for the shadows.
